Dear David,
My name is Gilson, I am from Brazil.
In 2019 I bought 4 tickets round trip from Rio de Janeiro to LGW.
When I noticed covid would turn a pandemic, I have got in contact with Norwegian asking about the possibilitiy to cancel the flight and have the money back.
The attendant ansered that the cancelation and refund would be possible due to a boading time carried out by Norwegian.
She informed that I would have the money back in 11 days.
I received less than 1% of my money back.
The Norwegian Customer Care Complaints just don´t give any answer.
I was wondering if you could point a more efective chanel to help me to solve the matter.

On June 23, 2020 I called Norwegian Air because our flight from Orlando FL to Paris on 8/19/2020 was cancelled and I wanted a refund. While on the phone with I asked the customer service agent about our return flight that was leaving Amsterdam to JFK on 9/5/2020. The customer service agent put me on hold to speak to someone. When she returned to the call I was told since it was considered our return flight we could get a refund and to go ahead and cancel the return flight.
We received our outbound flight credit within weeks. I have called Norwegian Air three times since then, 8/3/2020, 8/21/2020 and 9/12/2020. Today I received an e-mail stating I could not get a refund because they had not cancelled the flight at the time I requested the refund.
The customer service agent said nothing about waiting for the flight to be cancelled!!

The same thing happened to us. We just got back from Barcelona boarding to Gothenburg. We used the same luggages and never had a problem on our way to Barcelona from Gothenburg. We were already boarding in our gate when one of their staff, singled out my mom, to weigh or reduce the size of her her carry-on. We saw people boarding with similar or even bulkier luggage size and they were not flagged down. After we rearranged the contents of our luggages, the other staff told me I couldn’t board because my luggage is too big. They kept pointing on a square measuring bar, so I jammed my luggage in it and it fit. So I confronted them, why are they picking on us when in fact I have seen other ppl boarding with just as bulky luggages. One of the staff actually threatened me that I will not board my flight, while pointing his finger at me and telling, ” you don’t work here but I do so I get to tell you what you do!”. I found it very abusive. Does this mean that as a customer, they could just abuse us anytime and we didn’t have a say because of the circumstances that we were in? It was very obvious that he was only targeting us. He was not even checking other’s luggages.

We had the same thing happen to us yesterday. Our flight was from Fiumicino Airport going to Orlando with a stopover in Oslo. Our luggage was tagged and approved for carry on in Rome. The gate in Oslo opened 30 mins before boarding time. While waiting for boarding we were approached by a Norwegian staff and asked if we were transit passengers and of course we said yes. She then asked to have our luggage weighed and told me my luggage was bigger than the required size,(we saw bigger carry ons once inside the plane) we told her we were already approved in Rome but she said she need to check it again. They made my friend and I check in our luggage and pay $85 each. When I told the staff I can discard some items in my luggage to meet their weight requirement, he informed me that the plane is boarding and to just send their customer support a complaint. I feel we were pressured and forced to pay since the boarding has started. The request to reweigh our luggage was done 5 mins before boarding which left us feeling we were going to delay the flight if we unload our stuff. I feel that this illegal in a way, felt robbed and taken advantage of because of the power that they had at that particular time. Sent a complaint online and still waiting for a reply. I am also interested on who I need to contact (government body) to file a complaint regarding what I feel is a subtle but coercive practice by Norwegian airlines.

Dear David,

I recently had a very bad experience with Norwegian. We went from Oslo to Miami, we checked in our luggage and got one carry on for bOth of us. Before boarding the plane they told us our carry on is too big (which is not, it is really small in comparison with others in the same flight) (it can be however 24 instead of 23 in depth because it has a pocket that is a bit hard) anyways we’ve used this luggage for ever and it is totally unfair and abusive how they allow you to enter with the hand luggage without problem and then right before boarding they forced us to pay the fee, basically put it like we pay or we don’t flight or lose the luggage we felt literally like being robbed and abused of the power they have in this moment. We contacted them and they didn’t care to help. So, my question is if you know which would be the next step for making a claim to a higher authority that can look into this mafia of forcing people to pay fees right before boarding… Thanks in advance.
