Kathleen Taylor est une dirigeante d鈥檈ntreprise exp茅riment茅e 脿 l鈥櫭ヽhelle internationale et une administratrice de soci茅t茅s dans les secteurs public et priv茅 脿 Toronto, au Canada. Elle est reconnue pour ses comp茅tences en mati猫re de leadership et de gouvernance, ainsi que pour son expertise commerciale polyvalente dans plusieurs secteurs et zones g茅ographiques.  

Elle a si茅g茅 au conseil d鈥檃dministration de la Banque Royale du Canada 脿 partir de 2001 et l鈥檃 pr茅sid茅 de 2014 脿 2023; durant cette p茅riode, elle a chapeaut茅 une p茅riode de croissance significative et d鈥檈xpansion internationale pour la banque. Avant d鈥檕ccuper ce poste, Mme鈥疶aylor 茅tait pr茅sidente et directrice g茅n茅rale de Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. Aujourd鈥檋ui, Mme鈥疶aylor est pr茅sidente d鈥橝ltas Partners, une soci茅t茅 priv茅e de capital-investissement en plein essor, qui g猫re environ 10鈥痬illiards de dollars de capitaux et investit dans de nombreuses entreprises en Am茅rique du Nord. Elle est 茅galement vice-pr茅sidente du groupe Adecco (Zurich), premi猫re soci茅t茅 mondiale de conseil et de solutions en mati猫re de talents et si猫ge au conseil d鈥檃dministration d鈥橝ir Canada (Montr茅al), le plus grand transporteur a茅rien du Canada, et de Mattamy Asset Management (Toronto). De plus, elle pr茅side le conseil consultatif de The Cabot Collection, un promoteur et exploitant de centres de golf et de propri茅t茅s r茅sidentielles.    

Ardente d茅fenseure des femmes et des enfants, Mme鈥疶aylor est pr茅sidente du conseil d鈥檃dministration du Hospital for Sick Children et pr茅sidente sortante et membre du conseil d鈥檃dministration de SickKids Foundation. Elle est 茅galement visionnaire fondatrice et copr茅sidente du comit茅 de plaidoyer du Prosperity Project, une organisation nationale 脿 but non lucratif qui se consacre 脿 la promotion des femmes dans le domaine du leadership et de l鈥櫭ヽonomie.

Elle d茅tient un doctorat honorifique en droit de l鈥橴niversit茅 de Toronto, de l鈥橴niversit茅 McGill, de l鈥橴niversit茅 York et de l鈥橴niversit茅 Trent; un doctorat honorifique en lettres humaines de l鈥橴niversit茅 Mount Saint Vincent; et un doctorat honorifique en th茅ologie du Huron University College.  

Rhonda L. Lenton, Ph. D., est devenue la huiti猫me pr茅sidente et vice-chanceli猫re de l鈥橴niversit茅 York le 1er鈥痡uillet 2017. 

Mme鈥疞enton s鈥檈st jointe 脿 l鈥橴niversit茅 York en 2002 en tant que doyenne de la Facult茅 Atkinson des 茅tudes lib茅rales et professionnelles o霉 elle a supervis茅 la diversification des inscriptions et des programmes ainsi que l鈥檈xpansion de l鈥櫭ヾucation exp茅rientielle et de l鈥檃pprentissage communautaire. Elle a ensuite 茅t茅 la premi猫re vice-pr茅sidente aux affaires acad茅miques de York de 2009 脿 2012 avant d鈥櫭猼re vice-pr茅sidente aux affaires acad茅miques et rectrice de l鈥橴niversit茅 de 2012 脿 avril 2017. En tant que rectrice et vice-pr茅sidente aux affaires acad茅miques, Mme鈥疞enton a men茅 plusieurs initiatives importantes dans les domaines de la planification acad茅mique, de la gestion des changements institutionnels, de l鈥檃lignement des priorit茅s et des ressources acad茅miques ainsi que de la planification strat茅gique des inscriptions et des effectifs. Cela comprend l鈥櫭﹍aboration de l鈥橢ntente de mandat strat茅gique de l鈥橴niversit茅 et d鈥檜n plan institutionnel int茅gr茅 des ressources.  

Ardente d茅fenseure de l鈥檈ngagement communautaire et des partenariats innovants, Mme鈥疞enton a jou茅 un r么le d茅terminant dans la cr茅ation du Centre d鈥檈ngagement communautaire YU-TD et dans l鈥檈xpansion des collaborations institutionnelles de York avec d鈥檃utres partenaires de l鈥檈nseignement postsecondaire. En tant que pr茅sidente du Groupe de travail de la pr茅sidente sur l鈥檈ngagement communautaire, elle a favoris茅 les discussions avec un grand nombre de parties prenantes; ces discussions ont abouti 脿 un rapport final qui a fait de l鈥檈ngagement un 茅l茅ment central de la planification de l鈥橴niversit茅. 

Avant de rejoindre York, Mme鈥疞enton 茅tait doyenne associ茅e et professeure 脿 l鈥橴niversit茅 McMaster. Sociologue de formation, elle a obtenu son doctorat 脿 l鈥橴niversit茅 de Toronto en 1989. Ses domaines d鈥檈nseignement et de recherche comprennent le genre, les conflits familiaux, le harc猫lement sexuel, les m茅thodes de recherche et, plus r茅cemment, l鈥檈nseignement sup茅rieur. Elle a publi茅 des chapitres de livres 茅valu茅s par un comit茅 de lecture et des articles dans de nombreuses revues sp茅cialis茅es. 

Parall猫lement 脿 ses fonctions 脿 York, Mme鈥疞enton si猫ge au conseil d鈥檃dministration et au comit茅 de recherche d鈥橴niversit茅s Canada, au comit茅 des relations gouvernementales et communautaires du Conseil des universit茅s de l鈥橭ntario (COU) et elle est copr茅sidente du conseil d鈥檃dministration de l鈥橭ntario Council on Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT). Elle a si茅g茅 au Conseil des vice-pr茅sidents aux affaires acad茅miques de l鈥橭ntario et l鈥檃 repr茅sent茅 au conseil d鈥檃dministration de l鈥檕rganisme eCampusOntario et du Conseil pour l鈥檃rticulation et le transfert 鈥 Ontario (CATON). En reconnaissance de son leadership et de ses contributions exceptionnelles 脿 titre de dirigeante dans le secteur de l鈥檈nseignement sup茅rieur, Mme鈥疞enton figurait en 2015 au palmar猫s des 100鈥痜emmes les plus influentes du Canada du R茅seau des femmes ex茅cutives (RFE). En 2016, elle a re莽u le prix de reconnaissance Angela Hildyard pour avoir continuellement fait preuve d鈥檜n leadership novateur dans l鈥檃vancement de la mission de son 茅tablissement et de l鈥檈nseignement sup茅rieur.

THE COAT OF ARMS OF YORK UNIVERSITY

La moiti茅 sup茅rieure de l鈥櫭ヽu comporte les deux lions de la Ville de York; la moiti茅 inf茅rieure comporte, sur fond rouge, la rose blanche de la Maison royale de York. Le brin de ch锚ne sur le cimier repr茅sente l鈥檃rbre de la connaissance et t茅moigne de l鈥檃ffiliation initiale de York 脿 l鈥橴niversit茅 de Toronto. Les couleurs de l鈥橴niversit茅 York sont le blanc et l鈥櫭ヽarlate. 

THE MACE

La masse que porte le massier de l鈥橴niversit茅 a 茅t茅 offerte 脿 l鈥橴niversit茅 York en 1964 par la Ville de Toronto. Chacune de ses parties a une signification symbolique pour l鈥橴niversit茅. La masse est en laiton et sa partie inf茅rieure est sertie de pierres taill茅es 脿 partir de calcin, d鈥檋茅liotrope et d鈥檃mazonite qui repr茅sentent toutes les origines ethniques du Canada. Les 10鈥痯rojections de la partie sup茅rieure repr茅sentent les provinces canadiennes. Les quatre bras 脿 la t锚te de la masse repr茅sentent les chemins qui m猫nent aux id茅aux que l鈥檋umanit茅 s鈥檈fforce d鈥檃tteindre. Ces bras soutiennent une sph猫re symbolisant l鈥檜nivers et ses v茅rit茅s. Le globe arbore les couleurs de la terre et de l鈥檈au鈥: le brun, l鈥檕cre, le bleu et le vert.
