In reply to Andrea. Hi Andrea, it's not about the first investment but about wealth tax on unrealized values - like stock in a startup. So the owner of stock is taxed on an estimated market value (or the value after a stock emission) even though the stock itself might not be possible to sell and the owner never got any money. Having just started a business here in Norway this topic is definitely of interest to me. How the government can justify taxing the initial start-up investment when most companies don’t make money the first few years is beyond me…I didn’t even know that until I read this – ouch! Otherwise it is very easy to start. Getting off the ground is another story… Great interview, David – I really like this series =)
