I know Trondheim having lived many years in Vasternorrland, Sweden. We often visited Trondheim when skiing in Are. Now based mosstly in SW France, near Cognac, we’re again thinking it’s time to return to Scandiland, and as we speak a bit of Swedish, Sverige the likely option. Take care and keep us posted. Like you, I grew up in California, love nature and am a graduate of UC Berkeley. I have always been fascinated by Norway and finally visited last September with my wife. Just as expected, we loved it!

Last month while backpacking on the Pacific Crest Trail, I met a young Norwegian couple from Trondheim (graduates on NTNU of course!). We had so much in common that we became instant friends. Two weeks later they were at our home and surfing with us in Newport Beach! They actually surf in Norway which surprised me. They are back home in Norway now but we have kept in close communication and will get back together soon. Your blog is giving me a great look at life in Trondheim. Thanks!

Hi, Norway is a booming economy with plenty of finance jobs, but unless you are aiming for a management position, it may be important for you to be fluent in Norwegian. I can’t give tons of advice other than to say check out the other articles I have written on this topic, do your best to network with locals and I wish you luck!

Interested how you find the economy to be now, as the oil crisis has hit Norway rather hard.
My background is in finance. Any suggestions on what I can do to make myself marketable over there? My first trip to Norway, and I was hooked. Do not have the chance yet to physically move there yet, but need to begin to network and put feelers out.
