Jeg hette Kjell. It is unique here in the US. However, not many can pronounce it correctly. So I tell them to say the musical instrument the cello and drop the “o”. Jeg var født i Sandefjord i 1941. I was named after far’s fetter som hette Kjeld. I’d like to know what Kjell and Kjeld mean.

Both my father and I carry the given name of Sigurd . . . we are named after a Medieval Viking King and we’re are both proud of our Scandinavian heritage. Some people struggle with the pronunciation of the name, but . . . for most, it’s pretty straight forward.
