Yes – I teach them new phrases or expressions of jokes like “bullseye!” Or “spot on!”. You are quite right, the Geeky side of me is flexible.

I’ve been here almost three years now and I still struggle a little bit with the language-related stumbling blocks. I really admire your courage in insisting that you speak Norwegian with close friends. I have still to make that leap. Like you, I’m in my 30’s and, like you, I get so caught up in worrying about sounding silly or not being understood that it makes me afraid to try. But, I’m inspired by your post and I’m going to try to make the switch before I celebrate my third anniversary in this beautiful country in November!
