So stupid to romanticize peoples that were essentially ignorant and full of parasites. More likely the animals were tools / property that they believe would be needed in the afterlife. The vikings civilization was around less than the USA and were very quickly defeated. A bunch of inbred rogues who would no doubt, if brown, be called a “gang” today.

Put them in their place and forget about them so we can move on and tackle real problems in the world. Sheez.

Swedish Farm Owners kept notes about the horses that worked the land and their special personalities. My mother’s farm had a single horse named Nora who was constant in her recollections when asked about her childhood. It is so true that the my families of Scandinavia had extraordinary regard for horses and cats, not so much dogs (barking is a disturbance to nature’s realm, the Norwegians have a dog class that doesn’t bark).
